Return of Energy

The cheerful, lively boy was suddenly very calm and quiet. Pov Layseak also complained of pain in his stomach and chest, but he had no fever and was not vomiting. Mother Chhun Lyhorn thought this was strange and took her son to our children's hospital in Phnom Penh.

Here, the medical team discovered that the 3-year-old was suffering from pneumonia - although his symptoms were not typical. This disease is often caused by bacteria, but sometimes (flu) viruses or fungi are also involved. This can lead to a life-threatening situation, especially for very young children and the elderly.

Pov Layseak was immediately given antibiotics and was closely monitored in our hospital. Two days later he was already feeling better - his cheerfulness returned.
